Meilyn is an award-winning dance artist, teacher and choreographer, performing regularly with her class group, Lola Hips. She is based in Leeds and a dancer in traditional Oriental dance ('bellydance') and Fusion bellydance.

Meilyn's theatricality and drama won her first runner up in the Entertainer Award 2012 at international bellydance festival, Jewel of Yorkshire. Her choreography won the bellydance contestants the annual St. Gemma’s Hospice 'Strictly Learn Dancing' trophy in 2014. Commissioned to teach choreographies for nationwide tours, competitions and business launches, she has also become one of the local teachers at Jewel of Yorkshire and was recently invited to judge on the panel for the 2016 'Strictly Learn Dancing' for St. Gemma's Hospice at Elland Road, Leeds.

Known for her welcoming manner and clear teaching style, Meilyn's community workshops are hugely enjoyed by all, from primary school children to the elderly.
Past courses and workshops include Turkish Romani, Egyptian Saidi, Balkan Beats, Fan Veil Burlesque, confidence building and performance skills, Urban Fusion and Charleston Fusion. - See SCHEDULE.

Meilyn began her bellydance education at Leeds University and, after a year of studying abroad in Turkey, she returned to take on presidency of and teaching for the Leeds University Union Belly Dance Society (LUU BDS). Continuing with her undergraduate and then masters studies, within three years she took the club from a weekly class to five classes a week. She remains resident bellydance instructor for LUU BDS.
