Bellydance Artist

What are workshops (as opposed to classes)?

Workshops fall into two catgories;
i) Taster workshops are one-off classes that allow groups to try out bellydance for the first time,
e.g., for community groups, corporate, ladies parties and hen/menhdi activities etc.
ii) Dance workshops are one-off classes based on a specific topic, e.g., a particular style, skill, technique or choreography. Usually open level (suitable for beginners and all levels), but do check on the description.

Can anybody bellydance? Do I have to look a particular way?

Yes, anyone can try bellydance. Bellydance classes and workshops are for everyone, however you look.

Can men bellydance?

Yes, men can bellydance - some of the star bellydancers in the world are men. Look up Ozgen, DaVid of Scandinavia and Rachid Alexander as a starter.

What if I've never tried it before? Do I need any dance experience?

If the class/ workshop is stated as beginner, no previous dance experience is necessary, bellydance or any other dance style.

What do I wear in class? Do I have to show my belly?

Wear comfortable clothing, no jeans or restrictive clothing. We dance barefoot/ in socks or clean trainers, no day shoes. We do not show our bellies.
Coinbelts - some provided in classes, but feel free to bring your own. Any old scarf works well as a hip scarf.
